Cybercrooks are weaponizing AI to launch attacks in far greater numbers that are also more effective and harder to detect.

Hackers are now specifically targeting insurance agencies with the first, coordinated national cyberattacks this past March.

At the same time, growing business use of ChatGPT and similar tools can trigger serious intellectual property losses and security issues without strong preventative measures.

This session will explain the threats in practical terms and outline the steps agents must take to protect their agencies and alert policyholders to do the same.

How Do You Train forÌýCybersecurity?

Here are five cybersecurity tips for employees to help ensure they clearly understand not only the security policies of the organization, but also the potential risks associated with a data breach:

  1. Get the C-suite involved.ÌýIt’s important that upper-level employees also understand the importance of a strong cybersecurity training program, as they typically are responsible for designating the budget of such programs. All employees should understand the implications a data breach could cause the organization.
  2. Require strong passwords.ÌýAll employees should understandÌýÌýfor the systems they access daily. In fact, secure passwords are often the first step in safeguarding sensitive data. Some of the best practices for passwords include using a mix of characters, numbers and letters, never sharing passwords among employees and avoiding keeping passwords out where others may see them.
  3. Implement cybersecurity drills.ÌýA cybersecurity “drill” or “live fire” training exercise allows employers to fully understand how educated their employees are when it comes to avoiding a data breach. For example, some companies utilize simulated phishing scams by sending out emails to see how many individuals open or click on attachments.
  4. Consistently evaluate vulnerabilities.ÌýCompanies should understand exactly how vulnerable the organization may be to a cybersecurity attack. This means evaluating both the systems and the employees who utilize them regularly to monitor any potential weaknesses.
  5. Keep the lines of communication open.ÌýThe organization should communicate their cybersecurity policies throughout the organization, and there should be regular training procedures to keep all employees aligned on best practices. Additionally, all employees should understand the company’sÌýÌýto ensure the proper steps are implemented immediately should they suffer a cybersecurity attack.

Watch Now on Demand!

Many in the insurance industry are on increasingly high alert after a recent explosion of ransomware incidents, with attacks rapidly growing in scale and sophistication. Recent attacks have affected businesses, schools, hospitals, critical infrastructure, government systems and even the insurance industry itself as several insurers have seen ransomware incidents within their own operations.

As ransomware evolves, concerns have been raised about the state of the cyber insurance marketplace. Some are questioning whether insurers can keep up with increased demand or if cyber exposure is too big for the private sector to handle alone.

In a recent Insurance Journal poll, more than 70% of respondents said they were somewhat worried about the state of the cyber insurance industry given the recent escalation in ransomware incidents, and nearly 30% of respondents said they were very worried.

In this webinar, you’ll hear from experts about growing ransomware concerns and what they mean for cyber insurance.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

-the impact of recent significant ransomware attacks and lessons learned

-how a growth in ransomware-related claims could affect capacity in the cyber insurance space

-what’s changing about state and federal governments’ responses to ransomware

-the risks of paying ransoms for victims and their insurers

-what to expect regarding ransomware and its impact to cyber insurance in the near future
