Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation had paid out $90 million in claims from the 2008 Hurricanes Gustav and Ike, as of mid-November. The company had about 53,000 claims from the two storms; the majority came from Gustav, which affected nearly all regions of the state. Citizens has paid a little more than 31,000 claims from the two storms, according to Citizens CEO John Wortman. Roughly 30,000 of the 50,000 Gustav claims have been paid and about 1,200 of the 3,500 Ike claims have been paid, the Associated Press reported. The firm has paid out $88 million for Hurricane Gustav and $2 million for Hurricane Ike. The company had 65,000 claims from Katrina, worth $1.5 billion, and 15,000 Rita claims, worth $150 million.
