A $2.6 million contract to install a new Medata medical bill processing system has been signed by the West Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission.
According to Gregory A. Burton, WVCC executive director, the system will improve efficiency in medical billing and payment and encourage more providers to accept workers’ compensation patients.
Burton said the new Medata medical bill processing system will make it easier for health care providers to submit invoices and check payment status.
He said that upgrading the system will enable the WVCC to conduct business in a vastly more efficient manner by reducing errors and improving speed.
Medata is a Tustin, Calif.-based provider of bill review software and services for property/casualty insurers, state compensation funds, self-insured employers and third party administrators.
