Glen Ellyn, Ill.-based Automotive Glass Replacement Safety Standards Council Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the safe replacement of auto glass. AGRSS was founded and is supported by companies in the auto glass replacement industry that make safe installation as their primary goal.
AGRSS is an accredited American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards development organization. It has developed an auto glass replacement safety standard, the AGRSS standard (ANSI/AGRSS 002-2002 Automotive Glass Replace-ment Safety Standard), that it believes people and companies involved in the auto glass replacement industry should follow. The council is also urging insurers to use AGRSS registered companies. The AGRSS standard addresses procedures, education and product performance.
AGRS will hold its first national conference Oct. 16-17, 2007, at the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Speakers will include automotive safety advocate Ralph Nader and State Farm National Glass Manager Bob Bischoff. For more information on AGRSS, visit www.agrss.com.
A listing of glass retailers that have endorsed the AGRSS standard may be found at www.safewind shields.com
