Zurich Financial Services Group announced that Thomas Huerlimann (47, Swiss citizen), currently CEO Global Corporate in Europe, has been appointed to the position of CEO Global Corporate, effective immediately.
Zurich noted that “he will succeed Mario Vitale, who has decided to take a role with Aspen, a reinsurance/insurance company in his native United States. In his new role, Mr. Huerlimann will be leading and further developing Zurich’s Global Corporate business, which is serving large and multinational customers. He will report to Mario Greco, CEO General Insurance, and be located in Zurich.”
Huerlimann joined Zurich as Global Head of Group Reinsurance in 2003. In 2005, he became Chief Operating Officer for Zurich Global Corporate, and in June 2006 was appointed to his current position as CEO Global Corporate in Europe. He holds a degree in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Zurich, and an MBA from IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland.
