A preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board finds no apparent reason for a fatal plane crash last month in Brighton, Vermont.
The Caledonian Record reports that it’ll likely be months before a cause is determined and put in a final investigative report.
Sixty-year-old Mark Biron, of Island Pond, died in the fiery crash on Aug. 25 near John H. Boylan State Airport. Friends said he’d devoted his life to serving the country and community through his service in the Army, where he earned the Bronze Star, and as a U.S. Customs officer.
The Norwich University graduate was flying a Piper PA-22-150 that was built in 1956. Much of the single-engine plane was destroyed by the post-impact fire about 100 yards off the runway.
