Connecticut was cleaning up after a storm dumped more than eight inches of rain on parts of the state, causing floods that washed away roads and bridges and trapped people in their vehicles.
Schools in East Haddam and Lebanon were closed Wednesday because several roads and bridges were made impassible by overnight flooding.
In Clinton, officials were evacuating people who live along the flooding Indian River.
In Norwich, where the Yantic River rose well above flood stage at 12.7 feet, officials say two people were rescued Wednesday morning from a recreational vehicle surrounded by three feet of water in a parking lot.
The Housatonic River rose five to 10 feet above normal and Norfolk officials say crews were searching Wednesday for a vehicle that might be submerged in the river in North Canaan.
