Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford (CGSC), the global wholesale and reinsurance brokerage group, has appointed Gavin Southwell as head of operations.
He previously served as CGSC’s head of risk management. In his new role Southwell will “focus on providing best practice processes and controls, and a platform from which CGSC can meet its strategic objectives,” said the bulletin.
“In addition, he will coordinate and develop CGSC’s regional and global operations in order to deliver a better service to its clients, linking closely with the group’s current major IT investments.”
Southwell is a chartered accountant. Before joining CGSC in 2009 he worked in various insurance roles, most recently for Beazley and Willis after starting his career at French bank Credit Agricole.
Toby Esser, Group Chief Executive commented: “Since Gavin joined the team at CGSC he has done an excellent job of implementing an enhanced risk management framework and identifying areas where our operations could be optimized to meet our strategic vision. In his new role, Gavin will make a natural progression to deliver world class operational support for our global businesses.”
