Barbican Insurance Group announced the appointment of Sarah McGurk as class underwriter for directors’ & officers’ liability insurance.
Working as part of the financial lines division, she will report to Hans Sherman, underwriting manager D&O.
McGurk has extensive experience in underwriting D&O-related policies, specializing in this line of business for over 10 years. During her 24-year insurance career, she has worked across both the underwriting and broking arenas and has been a London market underwriter for the last five years.
Most recently, McGurk was an underwriter for D&O liability insurance at The Standard Syndicate 1884. She joined Standard in April 2015 and was responsible for developing and implementing the D&O underwriting strategy. Prior to this, she worked for Travelers for six years, initially in Canada before moving to London to take up the post of development underwriter for management liability. McGurk has also worked for Willis Canada and JLT Group.
She holds an LLB honours degree in law and LPC (Legal Practice Course) accreditation, in addition to CIP and ACII qualifications.
