AXA XL Insurance announced the appointment of Saverio Longo as country leader, Italy. He will join AXA XL in November and will be based in Milan. He succeeds Simona Fumagalli, who was appointed head of International Financial Lines, Europe.
In his new role, Longo will be responsible for further integrating AXA XL’s insurance operations in Italy, shaping and implementing the company’s strategy and increasing its footprint in the country. Along with the local underwriting teams and in close collaboration with AXA Italia, he will play a critical role in the development of new propositions and innovative solutions to better address the needs of the Italian market.

Longo joins AXA XL from Zurich Insurance Co. Ltd. where worked for 19 years and held several senior leadership positions. Most recently, he was head of Commercial Insurance for Italy.
“Italy’s gross domestic product is the third largest in the Eurozone. It is home to a wealth of companies exporting and operating throughout the region,” said Bruno Laval, regional leader, Europe at AXA XL, who noted that Italy is a key market for AXA XL in Europe.
