Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Services Commissioner Frank M. Fitzgerald announced that Gary Mielock will assume the role of advisor and project manager for issues involving financial institutions, insurance, securities and consumer lenders at the department.
“Gary brings over 25 years of experience working with Michigan’s financial communities to this position,” said Fitzgerald. “His extensive knowledge will allow OFIS to better explore issues that directly affect Michigan’s citizens and financial service providers.”
Mielock most recently served OFIS as the Acting Chief Deputy Commissioner for Financial Institutions. He previously held the positions of Acting Commissioner and Chief Deputy Commissioner for the former Michigan Financial Institutions Bureau.
With Mielock assuming the duties of advisor and project manager, Ron Jones, Chief Deputy Commissioner for Securities at OFIS, will assume the role of Acting Chief Deputy Commissioner for Financial Institutions. He will be responsible for the management of the Bank & Trust, Credit Union and Policy Divisions of OFIS.
Fran Wallace, Acting Chief Deputy Commissioner for Insurance at OFIS, will assume management duties for the Consumer Finance Examination & Licensing and Enforcement Divisions of OFIS. Both Jones and Wallace will retain their responsibilities in their respective Divisions of Securities and Insurance.
