Roanoke, Ind.-based sports and entertainment brokerage announced that Joe DesPlaines has been named president and chief operating officer of the company’s risk management operations.
Prior to joining American Specialty, DesPlaines was president of FEI Behavioral Health for 17 years, a leading provider of national managed behavioral health-care and crisis services, where he served as an expert consultant in human factors involving mass casualty critical events to the airline industry. During his career he has responded to 16 commercial aviation disasters providing direct support to government investigators, airlines officials and passenger families.
DesPlaines is an expert in human factors dealing with terrorist events and victim assistance, providing such services to the National Transportation Safety Board, the Federal Office for Victims of Crime and the FBI.
He is also an expert in conducting vulnerability assessments for organizations that are at high risk of critical events as well as training and simulations in crisis preparedness. DesPlaines will be relocating from Milwaukee to the Fort Wayne area when he assumes his new post.
