Wisconsin Insurance Commissioner Ted Nickel has been elected as president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
Created in 1871, the NAIC establishes standards and conducts peer reviews for insurance regulatory agencies across the nation.
In addition to Nickel, the following officers were elected for 2017 by NAIC membership:
- President-Elect: Julie Mix McPeak, Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance
- Vice President: Eric A. Cioppa, Superintendent of the Maine Bureau of Insurance
- Secretary-Treasurer: David Mattax, Texas Insurance Commissioner
Newly elected officers will assume their duties on Jan. 1, 2017.
