The Michigan Automobile Insurance Placement Facility has announced that Terri A. Miller, its executive director, is leaving after nearly 20 years in that role.
Karyn Spaude, MAIPF’s controller, was named interim director as the organization seeks to fill the position. MAIPF expects to announce a new executive director within a month.
Since her appointment in 1999, Miller has overseen the organization’s mission to guarantee that automobile insurance is available to Michigan citizens who are unable to obtain it in the competitive market. That role was expanded in 2012 with the integration of the Michigan Assigned Claims Plan to the MAIPF.
Miller’s role has also included acting as executive director of the Help Eliminate Auto Thefts Program, which operates a confidential tip line (1-800-242-HEAT) for reporting information about auto theft, carjacking and auto theft-related insurance fraud.
“Terri has been an invaluable asset to both the Michigan Automobile Insurance Placement Facility and the H.E.A.T. program in her nearly 20-year tenure, and we are deeply appreciative of her commitment to Michigan citizens in this role,” Don Simon, MAIPF board chair, said in a statement.
