The Kansas Corporation Commission has approved opening general investigation dockets to allow the public access to information gathered during investigations into seismic activity in Reno and Rooks counties.
The dockets will share all data and research gathered in the investigations and also be a place where the commission could issue orders.
“It is the Commission’s duty and responsibility to be transparent with the public and ensure data and research is available to Commissioners in a timely manner. This is a serious issue for everyone, especially those who have experienced the quakes and the resulting damage to their homes and businesses. The people of Kansas deserve answers,” Commission Chairwoman Susan Duffy said in a news release.
The dockets will assure the public that the commission is investigating and taking their concerns about earthquakes in the area seriously, commission spokeswoman Linda Berry said.
Commission members also will be able to see all information and have an avenue to take any action that is appropriate.
The dockets opened on Jan. 31.
