Actor Woody Harrelson is suing Allstate Corp., claiming the company wrongly stopped defending him in a lawsuit filed by two photographers.
The breach-of-contract suit stems from a 1996 federal civil rights suit filed by the photographers after a tussle with Harrelson at a Martha’s Vineyard airport. Allstate reportedly withdrew from the suit just before it went to trial in 1998.
Harrelson is making several claims in the suit, including errors by Allstate lawyers resulted in his paying $3,000 in damages to the photographers and $80,000 in legal fees for their attorneys. Also, he had to pay an additional $150,000 in his own legal fees.
