John Hancock Financial has entered the travel insurance marketplace. The company’s product will be distributed by John Hancock Insurance Agency and underwritten by Old Republic Insurance Co. of Greenberg, Penn.
The new travel insurance product combines cancellation, interruption, medical, accident and baggage protection, as well as 24-hour multi-lingual emergency services.
“Going forward we also see opportunities for our distribution to expand, as we add travel agents, financial companies and other outlets seeking high quality products to sell to their clients,” said Beth McGoldrick, assistant vice president of John Hancock.
The product will be available on both John Hancock’s website and travel insurance comparison sites.
“We expect this new line of insurance will meet the travel protection needs of the many customers we serve across the United States, and we are pleased to partner with Old Republic, an experienced carrier in this area,” McGoldrick said.
John Hancock Financial is a unit of the Canada-based Manulife Financial Corp.
