The Hartford has appointed Carl J. Carano vice president of loss control for the company’s Commercial Markets division. Carano will lead development of a risk management services for commercial insurance customers. He will report to David Carter, head of Middle Market.
Carano brings 25 years of risk management, underwriting and loss control experience to his role. He joins The Hartford from Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, where he served as vice president and director of risk engineering, with responsibility for leading the company’s loss control and risk engineering operations. He has also held senior level risk management, loss control and underwriting positions with Selective Insurance, AIG and Cigna’s property/casualty operation.
