Guy Carpenter Chairman Britt Newhouse is retiring at the end of 2017, a company spokesperson has confirmed.
Newhouse has been chairman of the reinsurance broker/strategic advisory firm as part of leadership changes at the unit in 2008.
Newhouse joined Guy Carpenter in 1979, in the firm’s New York Casualty Treaty Department. He has served as president of the Americas broking operations and has been a member of the firm’s executive committee. Previously, he headed the U.S. Eastern Region and served as the New York branch manager. In 2015, he became interim CEO of Guy Carpenter’s U.S. operations after Andrew Marcell departed.
Prior to joining Guy Carpenter, Newhouse began his career as an underwriter with AIG.
The spokesperson offered no further details about Newhouse’s impending departure.
