
Markel said James Shankland has been appointed head of ocean cargo, U.S. He will lead the growth of Markel’s U.S. cargo portfolio, and be responsible for underwriting strategy, portfolio management and broker engagement.
He’ll work closely with actuarial, claims, operations and distribution to support disciplined execution across the business, Markel said.
Most recently, Shankland served as an underwriting team lead at AIG where he managed a significant cargo portfolio, led underwriting teams, and partnered closely with key broker relationships to drive profitable growth.
Verisk Appoints Murphy to Lead Sales for Claims Solutions
Jersey City, New Jersey-based Verisk announced the appointment of Will Murphy as senior vice president of sales for its Claims Solutions division. Murphy will lead sales strategy and execution, with a focus on deepening executive engagement and amplifying the voice of Verisk’s clients.
Most recently, Murphy was vice president of marketplace and technology alliances at Guidewire. He brings experience leading enterprise sales teams within insurance and technology-driven organizations such as Astronomer and BigID.
As insurers look to modernize workflows and leverage advanced analytics across the claims lifecycle, Verisk said it continues to invest in leadership and capabilities that support more integrated, enterprise-level= partnerships.
Kalepa Appoints Howell as Head of Product
Kalepa, headquartered in New York City, appointed Audrey Howell as head of product. Howell will lead Kalepa’s product vision and strategy, driving innovation and AI advancements across the platform.
Howell has over a decade of product leadership experience building technology products, previously serving as product manager at Palantir Technologies, vice president of product at Butterfly Network Inc., and head of product at Deep Origin.
