The Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission (AWCC) announced the adoption of electronic proof of coverage (POC), effective July 1, 2005, at which time the form AR-I (Insurance Coverage Card) no longer will be required.
The AR-I card formerly was used by carriers and self-insurers to prove to the AWCC that coverage was in place for workers’ compensation injuries and illnesses.
The new process, utilizing data from the National Council on Compensation Insurance, is expected to not only enhance efficiency within the AWCC but also ease a considerable burden on insurers conducting business in the state of Arkansas.
This service offered to workers’ compensation stakeholders will be a more efficient procedure and will provide accurate POC information in a timely manner.
