Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has reappointed Cassie Brown as Commissioner of Workers’ Compensation at the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI). Her term will expire on Feb. 1, 2021.
Brown has served as workers’ comp commissioner since being appointed to the post in June 2018. She succeeds Ryan Brannan, who left the division on May 1, 2018.
Previously, she served as deputy commissioner for Regulatory Policy at the Texas Department of Insurance, where she has served since 2011. She also previously was a policy advisor to former Gov. Rick Perry.
TDI’s Division of Workers’ Compensation regulates the workers’ compensation system in Texas, ensuring injured workers receive the necessary benefits to quickly return to work, and that workers’ compensation costs are kept at a reasonable level for Texas employers.
