The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT) has named Wes Kurtz of Pathfinder/LL&D in Houston as its Andr茅 P. Juneau ELITExan of the Year.
This award is given annually to a young insurance professional in Texas who has achieved success through hard work, community engagement and industry participation in a manner that is considered exceptional for a person of his or her age.
Kurtz is chief operating officer at Pathfinder. Before his insurance career, he served in the United States Air Force, post 9/11, where he worked on massive transport aircraft, stationed at various airbases around the globe.

After leaving the service in 2007, Kurtz returned to college, earning his degree at Sam Houston State University, while providing IT support to various companies, including Pathfinder. Two years after joining Pathfinder as a full-time IT employee, he moved into sales and became a top sales person for Pathfinder.
Kurtz is the current president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Houston. He has been working closely with IIAT to develop new strategic planning initiatives for the local Houston chapter and has been instrumental in the selection process for the new IIA Houston executive director.
