Authorities say a man is dead after his truck crashed into a utility pole on a Louisiana highway.
Louisiana State Police say the single-vehicle wreck Friday night shut down a stretch of state Highway 73 in Ascension Parish and knocked out power to nearly 2,000 homes and businesses.
Authorities identified 35-year-old Jon Davies as the person who died when his pickup truck ran off the road and slammed into the utility pole, WBRZ-TV reported. State police said he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Police are conducting toxicology tests to determine if the driver was impaired by alcohol or drugs.
