West Virginia Insurance Commission officials arrested two Kanawha County women on insurance fraud related charges.
A State Trooper assigned to the Insurance Commission’s Fraud Unit in Charleston arrested Linda Jett and Tara R. Dotson of Charleston in October.
According to the West Virginia Insurance Commission, Jett, a live-in girlfriend of Raymond E. Carter, who passed away in 2004, is alleged to have signed Carter’s workers compensation check that was delivered to him posthumously. Jett then gave the check to her daughter, Dotson, to cash.
Both women were arrested and charged with one felony count each of workers compensation fraud and conspiracy to commit workers compensation fraud. Both were arraigned and released on bond. Both are scheduled for their preliminary hearings on Nov. 8.
