Officials in Asheville, North Carolina said a woman was charged with driving while impaired twice in the same day by the same sheriff’s deputy.
Area media outlets report warrants at the Buncombe County magistrate’s office show 24-year-old Brittney Lashaun Box was stopped during last weekend’s holiday Booze It & Lose It campaign kickoff. Box registered a blood-alcohol level of .10, which is above the legal limit of .08.
After being released Saturday on a written promise to appear in court, Box returned to her car and was driving when the same deputy stopped her. Box’s blood alcohol level was .07; officers can charge someone with DWI at a lower level if they feel a driver is appreciably impaired.
Box is free on $1,000 bond. It’s not known if she has an attorney.
