Investigators are trying to determine what started a fire that destroyed a building in north Mississippi that houses a furniture business and storage for a refrigerator maker.
No injuries were reported in the fire Wednesday in New Albany. The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports the building contained Thomas Wholesale Furniture and a warehouse for Master-Bilt Refrigeration Solutions products.
The fire was reported around 1:30 a.m. and engulfed the building. By sunrise, most of the blaze was extinguished with only twisted metal roofing remaining.
The front part of the 14-acre (6-hectare) property has been home to Thomas Wholesale Furniture. The back part housed Master-Bilt’s entire inventory of newly-manufactured cabinet cooling units and some company records.
WTVA-TV reports that company officials asked workers in the cabinet section of Master-Bilt to stay home Wednesday.
