Leila Tamashiro, president of the , accepted the Jeffrey Nordhaus Education Award at the National Association of Insurance Women (NAIW (International)) regional meeting in Salt Lake City. The award honors the local association within the NAIW region which has significantly contributed to insurance education. Competing associations were evaluated on the courses their members attended or taught and insurance industry education articles written by their members.

The Honolulu Association of Insurance Professionals is the local chapter of the National Association of Insurance Women (NAIW). Founded in 1947, the mission of NAIW/HAIP is education and alliance. The organization provides professional education, an environment in which to build business alliances, and other opportunities to make connections with individuals of differing career paths and levels of insurance experience.
