Montana State Fund says its workers’ compensation insurance policyholders will be getting a $6 million dividend.
The board of directors authorized the refunds for January that will be sent to about 21,000 policyholders with good safety standards. Overall, the agency insures about 28,000 employers in the state.
Board chairwoman Elizabeth Best says the board was pleased to offer another dividend to employers with good safety records.
The agency says that employers who focus on safety helps keep the cost of workers’ compensation lower.
Montana State Fund says it has awarded $64 million in general dividend payments as a reward for workplace safety since 1999, including $4 million last year.
