Boulder, Colo. police are warning car owners that thieves are targeting catalytic converters.
Police say the small boxes attached to the underside of most vehicles have precious metals that can fetch hundreds of dollars.
Police have had eight reports already this year after getting only a handful of reports last year, according to the Boulder Daily Camera.
Removing the converters that are required to reduce pollution can cause thousands of dollars in damage.
