Idaho law enforcement is getting ready to crack down on aggressive motorists.
The Idaho Transportation Department is teaming up with 49 police agencies across the state on a two-week push aimed at drivers who are speeding, following too close, ignoring traffic signals and other forms of aggressive driving.
The campaign kicks off Wednesday and features intensified patrols on popular traffic routes statewide.
ITD officials say Idaho has a higher rate of crashes attributed to aggressive driving than the national average, with aggressive driving being a contributing factor in nearly half of crashes in the state in 2011. Speeding is a factor in more than one-third of the state’s traffic deaths.
Boise Police Chief Mike Masterson says the campaign is another attempt to make roads safer.
