A former utility worker has withdrawn a lawsuit that claimed San Diego Gas & Electric fired him after he complained that co-workers tied a noose to the back of his truck, used the N-word and posted racist photos in a work room.
U-T San Diego reported the attorney for Bilal Abdullah (bill-AHL abb-DOO’-luh) filed a motion last week to dismiss the wrongful termination suit. Daniel Gilleon said he couldn’t discuss the reason for ending the case.
The newspaper says a utility spokeswoman also declined to discuss the case.
Abdullah, who is black, claimed he was fired from his $200,000-a-year position several years ago after reporting racially-tinged incidents to supervisors.
The utility denied the lawsuit claims and said he was fired for safety violations that caused a potentially deadly explosion.
