Just days after a Southern California diocese announced the settlement of two child-abuse lawsuits, a lawyer says he has no plans to settle a third suit against a former Catholic priest.
Attorney Anthony De Marco tells the Sun newspaper the proof will be revealed as the case goes forward against the ex-priest, Alejandro Castillo, and the Roman Catholic Bishop of San Bernardino.
De Marco filed the lawsuit in 2012 on behalf of his client, claiming that sexual abuse by Castillo occurred as far back as the 1970s _ and the church knew about it. The trial could start in May.
Church officials declined to comment on the ongoing litigation.
On Sunday the Diocese of San Bernardino announced it had paid $3.8 million to settle two child-abuse lawsuits brought against Castillo.
