A new analysis of court cases in California over a year showed civil rights cases and personal injury cases were the most common civil cases in the state.
Of the 25,636 civil cases in California for the 12-month period ending March 31, 2022, the most prevalent were related to civil rights followed by personal injury cases.
The findings show that 32% were related to civil rights.
The second most common private civil case in the state was personal injury, with 14% under this category, according to the analysis by personal injury law firm law firm Scott Vicknair.
Coming in third place were all over civil cases, with 12%.
On the national level, the most common case was personal injury, making up 40% of all private civil cases. There were a total of 264,224 private civil cases across all categories in the 12-month period, the analysis shows.
